Participation in this project begins with an assessment of a preschool classroom or family child care home. Results from the assessment leads to the development of a quality improvement plan and technical assistance to help achieve goals. The assessments serve as a basis for receiving a quality improvement grant from the Child Care Facilities Fund (CCFF) and/or an Infant/Toddler Sustaining grant from the Children’s Council of San Francisco (CCSF). Both CCFF and CCSF are subcontractors on this project. Trained Assessors provide technical assistance that include direct consultation and connections to other resources. The evaluation tool we use are the Environmental Rating Scales (FDCERS, ECERS-R, ITERS-R, SACERS) by Thelma Harms, Debbie Cryer and Dick Clifford
